Piaggio Indonesia inaugurated a plant in the Jababeka area, Cikarang, West Java on Wednesday (11/23/2022). This factory has an annual capacity of 10 thousand units per year with an initial investment of US$20 million or about Rp 314 billion.
The inauguration of the plant was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of Product and Global Strategy of the Piaggio Group, Michele Colaninno, the Minister of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, as well as the Ambassador of Italy in Indonesia, HE Benedetto Latteri .
The Country Head of PT Piaggio Indonesia, Marco Noto La Diega, declared that Vespa has a long commitment in Indonesia. For the initial phase, the new Vespa factory produces the type LX 125 i-Get.
“We are just starting a long journey here with a cost (initial investment) of US$20 million, we will step by step here,” Marco said during the grand opening in Cikarang, West Java on Wednesday (11/23/2022).
“This is just the beginning, for a long time,” said Industry Minister Agus.

Marco added that all workers and standards at the Vespa factory in Indonesia comply with global standards. The Piaggio Group has opened its first plant in Indonesia, as well as being the third operating plant in Asia Pacific after Vinh Phuc (Vietnam) and Foshan (China).
“Today there are about 80 people in the factory, we equip them starting from identification, repair and provide training with global standard incentives,” said Marco.
During a tour of the Vespa factory, which covers almost 6 hectares of land, it was explained that 10,000 units can be produced in a year. This factory has the capacity to produce 40 units of motorcycles per day.
Ayu Hapsari, Public Relations Manager at Piaggio Indonesia, said a unit of the LX 125 i-get can be produced in around three hours.
“All lines (production lines) are about three hours from start to finish,” he said.
