The production of the play won the recognition of both viewers and critics, was nominated Gamblers’ night as a small form show of the year, and last year, when theaters were closed to the public, it transformed theatrical forms into a new, experimental cinematic version. It will be available online until February 20.
Director Elmārs Sņkovs says: “When the circumstances of the pandemic prevented us from showing the audience this show, which was staged in 2019, the idea arose to capture the production. My idea was to find an unusual format for how to do it. Director Liene Linde came to offer GoPro a camera that would allow the viewer to move from one image to another and see the situation from their point of view. It seemed to us to transfer a lot of the action to real life, not forgetting the stage environment in which the show was originally created. In the end, we had a transformed show. Thanks to the subjective camera, each of the actors also became the operator of this work. For me, this job is about growing up in today’s age. You seem to have everything. But what else do we need to pursue? ”
Both young and experienced actors take part in the screen version of the show – Matīss Budovskis, Una Eglīte, Ivars Krasts, Rihards Zelezņevs, Sandija Dovgāne, Elīna Bojarkina, Varis Piņķis and Matīss Millers. The project team consists of cameraman Dāvids Smiltiņš, sound director Jevgenijs Kobzevs, artist Līga Zepa and executive producer Elīna Auzāne.
Director Liene Linde says: “I had the real pleasure of working with the phenomenally talented young generation of recent graduates of the Academy of Culture. “The actors are so familiar with the characters they play. All the characters are entirely created by the actors themselves, which is probably why they were so successful in moving from one art format to another.”
According to Elmārs Sņkovs, the screen version created in collaboration with Lieni Lindi is a completely new work, which is not comparable to a stage performance.
“Have we created a strange audiovisual theatrical performance during a pandemic or an experimental low-budget movie? This question should probably be answered by each viewer themselves, but I think Hunting watching it, no matter what format we consider it to be – an interdisciplinary experiment, a screen theater or anything else – will be an exciting evening, “adds Liene Linde.
Performances Hunting The screen version will be available from January 20 at February 20 to 20 on the platform www.ticketshop.lv. An online ticket costs 6.50 euros.
Before the premiere – on January 20 at 19.15 – an online conversation with the creators of the work will take place, chaired by Edgars Raginskis. The conversation will be watched by the theater association It’s art social networks.
