This will be the 3rd verdict in the circumstance of two Swedish documentary makers for disturbing the wreck of the ferry “Estonia”.
Swedish law states that the location in which the ferry sank is regarded a cemetery that must not be disturbed. To circumvent this rule, the filmmakers applied a German recording ship and a remote-managed submarine.
The decreased court docket acquitted them, but the appeals court docket claimed Swedish law also applies to this situation and purchased a retrial.
The “Estonia” ferry sank in the Baltic Sea in 1994, killing more than 850 persons. It is Europe’s worst maritime catastrophe in peacetime.
