During this day, different teams of police officers, the Public Security Coordinator, and inspectors from Transport Control and Municipal Security were deployed throughout the commune of Chillán and the region to monitor the state of the flow of the streets and traffic congestion at different road critical points.
In this line, the Presidential Delegate Gabriel Pradenas indicated that “coordination in this type of situation is crucial to be able to respond to the services that are carried out in the Ñuble region, mainly in the Chillán commune where it has been given that in the main arteries is recurrent high congestion. In particular, due to the increase of approximately 30% in the vehicle fleet, there is an experience acquired among citizens in terms of schedule flows and trip planning, especially from earlier hours. The call is reiterated to people who can make their schedules more flexible, can do it within the critical range between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. and in this way, decongest vehicular flows.
On the other hand, and within the previous work in the determination of critical points, the Chief of Zone (s) of Ñuble, Colonel Fredy Vergara Ubilla commented that “we have determined these critical points, which are distributed in the northern, eastern and central sectors , whose cause depends on three important variables, such as, one, that residential neighborhoods have only one way in and out; two, others that maintain road works in full execution and that reduce the capacity of the normal flow; and three, which, because they are central roads, face sectors for passenger pick-up and drop-off, and double-parking, as experience in recent years has shown”.
“This morning we deployed together with the Carabineros, the inspectors of the National Inspection Program, municipal inspectors and brigades of the Public Security Coordinator to verify the operation of the intercommunity during peak hours tomorrow at different critical points, as planned in the coordination between these public institutions, with the objective of evaluating the flows in our city. It is very important to carry out this type of monitoring, especially on days like today, when classes are restarting in schools and the regularization of flows throughout the Ñuble region. We call for planning your trip, using public transportation and also using the bicycle, which is a sustainable mode of transportation that is beneficial to people’s health,” said the head of Transportation and Telecommunications, Javier Isla Figueroa.
In addition to the on-site inspection by authorities and public officials, the monitoring rooms of both the Public Security Coordinator and the Security of the Municipality of Chillán were used to verify in real time any anomaly in the streets of road nature as well as criminal.
The authorities reinforce the message to cope with the pressure generated by this situation of re-entry to classes, it is recommended to leave punctually on time and reduce the tension when driving, plan the trip properly the night before, if it is necessary to make a reconnaissance trip, especially, if you find yourself with work or diversions due to road works, or if you are not familiar with the layout that you must carry out, as well as leaving all the implements that the person must carry with them at hand and in one place. During the displacement, keep your attention on driving and in the presence and instructions of Carabineros officials, obey their instructions, which seek to make your trip smooth.
In this line, the intercommunal flows were not greatly affected by the restart of classes, however, there was a significant increase in vehicle flows where the peak was recorded between 7:30 and 8:30 hours.
