The Vaya Con Dios group celebrates its 30th anniversary on Monday, November 11. Why choose Séron to complete the celebration of the group’s thirtieth anniversary? Only because its roots are here; In 1989 André Naude created the mixed group Les Troubadours de l’Enclave. The following year, two young tenors from Lourdes, talented duettists who have been performing the 50s/60s hit “Vaya con Dios” since a very young age, joined this mixed group. Two years later, when one of them “Fripounet” suggested to André to start a group of men with 4 voices, it was quite natural that this new group would be called Vaya Con Dios.
Initially, 7 singers from Séron will be part of the group which will later be exported to Lourdes and much later to Espoey.
This is how 30 years passed with the pleasure of singing in the towns and villages of the South-West, then far away in different French provinces and much further abroad (Russia, Cuba, Argentina twice, Quebec, Germany , Portugal).
Today, under the aegis of its new conductor Jean-François Bourrel, who went from being a brilliant singer to becoming president of the group that he still is, and has also been choir director for 2 years since the retirement of its founding conductor. . His talent and technique as a classical singer allow him to work on each section individually, then collectively on the whole group, resulting in undeniable progress vocally. And when luck intervenes, a new jewel joins this group in the person of Jean-Philippe, a virtuoso accordionist, who is none other than the son-in-law of the late Roger Garcia, a multi-card musician who has long accompanied Vaya con Dios.
All these beautiful people will be there in Séron on Monday November 11 at 5 p.m. in Séron, returning from a final trip to the South of Portugal where they will have performed two concerts.
So go to the Séron intergenerational activity room. Free participation.
