The VAR made for strange scenes in the Champions League game between Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla!
Haaland had stormed to the supposed 2-0 like a clearing vehicle, but had bumped into an opponent. Referee Cüneyt Cakir went out, obviously recognized a foul by Haaland – and still gave Dortmund a penalty. Because Haaland had been held by the shirt in a previous scene, the game was not interrupted between the two actions.
The Norwegian missed, the game went on – until Cakir intervened again. He had the penalty repeated because goalkeeper Bono had moved off the line in the first run. Haaland scored on the second attempt.
Hitz over 911 madness: “Exciting situation”
