A PAST IN FORMULA 1 – Vanwall is the name of one of English stables which were the most popular in Fomrula 1 in the second part of the 1950s, arriving at winning the first FIA Constructors’ Cup in 1958, the year in which his experience in racing ended also due to the worsening health conditions of the founder Tony Vandervell. The Vanwall brand was recently acquired and relaunched by Colin Kolles to make one 100% electric brand of high-end cars manufactured in Germany. Kolles is an entrepreneur of Romanian-German origin (Calin Colesnic at the registry office) who between 2005 and 2008 was at the top or owner of some second and third tier Formula 1 teams such as HRT, Jordan, Midland, Spyker and Force India.
INSPIRED BY THE 80’S – More than from the world of 1950s single-seaters, the new one Vanwall Vandervell S seems to draw inspiration, at least on an aesthetic level, from rally cars European cars from the 1980s, such as the Audi Quattro, Lancia Delta S4 and BMW M3. The shapes of this 5-door hatchback are aggressive and aerodynamically accurate. Enlarged and squared off fenders, front splitter in carbon fiber, side sill profiles, rear spoiler, deflector above the rear window are some of the stylistic highlights of the Vanwall Vandervell S, highlighting the car’s gritty personality. The profile is dominated by the 22-inch wheels that nicely “fill” the wheel arches, while the bulge behind the rear windows vaguely recalls the Lancia Delta S4. The launch color is the classic green which recalls the English origins of the Vanwall brand.
EXCITING PERFORMANCE – In the first official images of the Vanwall Vandervell S no views of the passenger compartment appear, which can be imagined on the basis of the manufacturer’s notes which speak of an impeccable driving position, ergonomic controls and references to the world of motorsport. Fine leather and visible carbon fiber qualify the Vanwall in the sign of luxury and sportiness. There Vandervell S expresses 320 CVpromises a combined range of approx 450 km, touches 185 km/h and accelerates from 0-100 in 4.9 seconds. There Vandervell S Plus puts it on the ground 580 CVwith an autonomy of approx 420 km, reaches 265 km/h and “burns” the 0-100 in 3.4 seconds. Both are equipped with four-wheel drive.
