Clean-up and repairs have cost Rælingen municipality dearly, after, among other things, a barbecue was found in the swimming pool in Sandbekkhallen.
On Monday 23 January, extensive vandalism was discovered in Sandbekkhallen in Rælingen municipality.
During the action, furniture, a barbecue and equipment intended for swimming training were thrown into the pool.
Prosecutor in the police, Vilde Stuvøy Heggen, informs Romerikes Blad that several people have the status of suspect or accused after the incident.
– There are still some investigative steps to be taken, including talking to relevant persons, Heggen tells Romerikes Blad.
Property manager in Rælingen municipality, Linda Haugen, tells VG on Friday that the preliminary cost after the vandalism is NOK 164,776.
– Much is about working hours. There is broken equipment, clean-up and repairs, says Haugen.
However, she says that the costs can be higher.
– We do not know what the extent is when we have to empty the pool. There is something that remains, and it has to do with how to get things out of the pool. It is about minimizing the damage. For example, tiles can fall off when draining water, and when it is an old pool the risk is even greater, says Haugen.
She says that it is linked to an insurance company, but that it is uncertain how much of the cost this will cover. The municipality’s own share will be a minimum of NOK 100,000, says Haugen.
She says that they currently do not know when the pool can open again.
