Driver Found Deceased After Van Recovery in Gabon

Lambarene, Gabon – A four-day rescue operation in Gabon concluded tragically on December 3, 2024, when the body of a driver was found inside his submerged van. The vehicle had been trapped in the Ogooué River since November 29th after plunging from the Adouma bridge.

Glenn Aboghe Ngounga, who was identified by his family, was the lone occupant of the van. His death marks a somber end to a desperate search that gripped the local community.

"Remember that on Friday November 29, 2024, Glenn Aboghe Ngounga suffered an accident, while he was driving his truck, he fell from the bridge of Adouma, in the first district of Lambaréné command," an official statement read.

Local authorities, including Public Prosecutor Alec Patrick Ibinga and Judicial Police Officers (OPJ), were present at the scene. An investigation has been launched to determine the precise circumstances leading to the tragic accident.

The recovery operation was a challenging one, requiring multiple attempts before the van could be finally extracted from the river.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of road safety, particularly in regions with challenging terrain. The investigation into the accident will hopefully provide valuable insights into preventing such incidents in the future.
