OAXACA, Oaxaca. (appro).- While Governor Alejandro Murat Hinojosa announced with great fanfare that he launched the Immunization Campaign for girls and boys from 5 to 11 years of age with the covid-19 vaccine for the state of Oaxaca , a health promoter acknowledged that the batch of doses that arrived at the port of Salina Cruz has an expiration date of June.
However, the health promoter José Iván Flores stated that the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) dependent on the Federal Ministry of Health authorized the extension of the expiration date until the month of September and it is the responsibility of the father if he vaccinate their minor children.
The governor reported that within the framework of the National Vaccination Strategy, 132,000 first doses of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNTech will initially be applied in the medical units of the state territory.
Due to the lack of planning of the Welfare delegation in charge of Nancy Ortiz Cabrera, at some points where the vaccine was applied there were riots and in others it generated irritation by waiting hours to finally be informed that the doses had run out.
But the fact that raised doubts was what happened in the port of Salina Cruz when a two-minute and 14-second video circulated on social networks where the health promoter, José Iván Flores, acknowledges that what arrived has an expiration date the month of June:
Indeed, the expiration of the vaccine, the batch has a date of June 2022, but Cofrepis, the federal regulatory commission, authorizes the application of the vaccine, but it is the responsibility and commitment of each parent to authorize its application. ”.
And he adds: “We are obliged to apply it to whoever authorizes it. Now, there is no convincing work because everyone decides the option and what is best for their children, I would like us to raise awareness that the vaccine is useful to us, they are not giving us something that will affect us, on the contrary, I only leave it to your authorization to apply it to you, our obligation is to provide you with the service, and you decide. It is authorized by cofepris”.
So, “you are the ones who decide whether or not to apply the vaccine, and it is a free decision but it does have the proper authorization, we are not incurring in any illegality or any irresponsibility because that is what our authorities are indicating,” he pointed out.
For her part, the Secretary of Health, Virginia Sánchez Ríos, described the first day of the Intensive Immunization Day for the child population as a success by applying 66,000 doses of vaccines against covid-19, to children between the ages of five and 11. , in this initial phase.
Regarding the matter of possible expired vaccines, he pointed out that according to the bulletin issued by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris), pediatric vaccines distributed and applied have a shelf life of nine months, therefore, they are adequate, effective and safe until the month of September.
He asserted that the application of the immune system in adolescents from 11 to 17 years of age will continue this week, until reaching the goal of a total of 101,064 doses supplied.
