the vaccine distributed by drop at the Lamalou-les-Bains hospital

The first vaccines to fight the Covid-19 epidemic arrive this Tuesday at Paul Coste-Floret hospital in Lamalou-les-Bains. Only 30 doses are transported to this 190-bed establishment. The first injections are reserved for personnel only. Which is very little compared to demand, deplore some agents.

This establishment, specialized in neurological rehabilitation, employs 320 people. 40% of them have priority (health workers over 50 and those with associated pathologies and therefore considered to be at risk).

Thirty doses per week only

At this rate, it will take more than a month to vaccinate the 130 employees identified as at risk. Given the circumstances, the director of the establishment refuses to be vaccinated for the moment. On the hospital’s Facebook page, Ronald Kuhmel also explains the reasons to his teams:

“I will take the last dose when all the professionals have benefited from it. Priority goes to doctors, caregivers, rehabilitators and hospital staff in contact with the patient.”

“You will not see me in a photo getting vaccinated. When the endowment granted to our establishment is 30 doses for more than 300 staff, including 130 affected by the first wave, the director does not have priority, even if he meets the conditions. I admit it’s a bit long, but I don’t want to get into the controversy “, he specifies

“I was surprised to learn that some establishments had been able to vaccinate as early as last week when we ourselves did not even know the procedures to obtain the maximum doses.”

Since the start of the crisis last March, ten employees have been infected. To date, the five technical service agents are off until the end of the week, following a positive contact case.

About twenty employees do not want to be vaccinated, but the management of the establishment does not despair of convincing them.
