“The vaccination center is now fully operational”

Thursday January 21, the sub-prefect of Lodève Jean-François Moniotte, invited by Jean-François Soto, mayor of Gignac and president of the Hérault Valley Community of Communes (CCVH), visited the local vaccination center. Véronique Niel, assistant to the president of the CCVH, and Guy Lassalvy, president of the local health commission in Cœur d’Hérault, were also present.

Élisabeth Courgey, you are an independent coordinator for the CPTS, a territorial professional health community, in the Hérault center. What are the steps to follow to get vaccinated?

People who have made an appointment are registered at the on-site secretariat and answer a questionnaire intended for statistics. They are then seen by the doctor permanently present who decides on the validation, then vaccinated by private nurses. Finally, they wait fifteen minutes to verify that they have no side effects. Since opening on Tuesday, we have had no cases.

Doctor Guy Lassalvy, is this center special?

Yes, this center is atypical in the sense that it is not a hospital structure. The CCVH has achieved a feat by creating a structure in line with the expectations of the regional health agency (ARS), with the daily presence from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. of a referring doctor and liberal nurses.

Élisabeth Courgey, is everything working correctly?

The device was set up in record time, vaccination lines, dose storage refrigerators, administration and everything works. We are able to honor all the demands of the population as soon as we have sufficient doses. We can activate three additional vaccine lines if necessary.

Jean-François Soto, what were the constraints for the CCVH?

We were faced with an intercommunal challenge in an area that is not in our expertise, health. We have hired a medical secretary and a civic service employee for the logistics part. We have adapted to the requirements of the ARS to open a center which is now fully operational.

Jean-François Moniotte, how is the creation of the centers going?

Next week, 24 centers will be operational. We have selected the most suitable cities. Currently, we have Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. We will probably have, in early February, after its validation, the Astrazeneca vaccine to strengthen availability.

We have, under the aegis of the prefecture, set up a census of people over 75 having difficulty coming to the centers and, with the support of firefighters, we take care of them.

Doctor Mélodie Chardonnet, how are healthcare professionals adapting?

I am a general practitioner in Gignac and a referring doctor here at the center. We are mobilized to ensure that vaccinations are effective and we are able to react to the situation.

Véronique Niel, you are participating in the device. What is your vision?

I am impressed by the involvement of the partners who created this structure in the specifications. It was even necessary to create an isolated electric line specifically for the refrigerators, then to assemble all the vaccination modules. We also liaised with the CCAS to identify those over 75.
