The vaccination center in the Dresden Exhibition Center will start on December 1st

From Wednesday, December 1, 2021, the so-called “mobile vaccination teams” will be brought together in the Dresden Exhibition Center. An appointment system will be introduced for all permanent vaccination centers, announced the Free State of Saxony and the German Red Cross. In the vaccination center in Dresden, up to 1,000 people per day can be vaccinated against the corona virus from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., regardless of whether they have a first or second vaccination or the so-called booster. The offer is initially for adults as well as for children and adolescents from the age of 12.

Dresden’s Mayor of Health Dr. Kristin Klaudia Kaufmann: “Nobody should have to wait for their vaccination outdoors in wet and cold weather. The fair offers many seats. Nobody should be sent away again after waiting for hours. With individual appointments, we enable an orderly and secure offer. Only in this way can we finally make progress with boosters. I call out to everyone who has been hesitant so far: The first vaccination only requires a little courage, does not hurt and takes a few minutes, but it can save many lives. Please give yourself a jolt! “

Lord Mayor Dirk Hilbert: “We will also set up the vaccination taxi for Dresden residents for over 70 years. We want to make it easier for older people in particular to get the booster vaccination. Our aim is to work with the German Red Cross to further increase capacities so that we can quickly reach a large number of people. Especially those who are only now able to bring themselves to get a vaccination. Without a faster vaccination, we not only experience a fatal impact of the fourth wave, but a fifth and sixth wave threaten us. “

Saxony’s Minister of Health Petra Köpping: “We have already doubled the capacity of the mobile teams to 6,000 vaccinations per day, and soon it will be up to 9,000 vaccinations per day. We are adapting the supply to the demand and will continue to increase. In addition, the Free State supports its own communal vaccination offers in a targeted manner. Four million euros are budgeted for each district-free city. I would also like to increase this funding further. “

Rüdiger Unger, chairman of the board of the DRK Landesverband Sachsen e. V .: “The coming days will be another show of strength. We are happy that, despite the tense situation everywhere, we can again rely on the commitment of our employees and volunteers. Our thanks go to the comrades of the Technical Relief Organization in setting up the vaccination center. So that the waiting times for citizens willing to be vaccinated can soon be reduced, we are working flat out on an online appointment booking system. “

With the start-up of the vaccination center, the range of vaccinations in the medical center in Braunsdorfer Straße will also move to the Dresden Exhibition Center. Only the mobile vaccination team at the Technical University of Dresden continues to work from there. Vaccinations in the lecture hall center on Bergstrasse are possible for everyone until Wednesday, December 22, 2021, Monday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. However, in order to avoid long waiting times, the announced appointment booking system will soon be switched to.

The appointment booking system is already known in a similar form from the spring. This allows you to book a vaccination appointment for all permanent vaccination centers via a central portal. The start of appointments and the link to the booking system will be announced.
