the vaccination campaign is accelerating, 4,100 doses planned this week

It was two months that Micheline, 79, was waiting for her vaccine : “I am relieved to finally have my first dose, this is really good news!“In the waiting room of the vaccination center installed at the Cellier in Reims, Dominique is also delighted.”When I called the switchboard a month ago, I was told there were not enough doses and I was put on the waiting list.“, explains this 85-year-old Rémoise.

But in recent days, the pace of vaccination has accelerated and the waiting list is gradually being reduced. Last week, 3,500 doses of the Pfizer BioNTech vaccine were administered in the vaccination centers of Greater Reims. This week, around 4,100 injections are planned. “Today, we have vaccines but it’s a whole organization to set up and that’s what takes time“, explains Marie Depaquy, Deputy Mayor for Health and Social Affairs.

A waiting list that is gradually being reduced

At the Cellier vaccination center, a third vaccination box will be installed in the coming days, in order to further accelerate the pace of vaccinations. “This may seem like a long time for older people waiting for their vaccine“, confides Marie Depaquy,”but in the coming weeks, all people over 75 years of age or with severe co-morbidities can be vaccinated.

With the suspension of the AstraZeneca vaccine on Monday, a vaccine administered in large part by treating physicians, patients who had made an appointment with their doctor risk falling back on vaccination centers. Which could lengthen the queues again at vaccination centers. Verdict in the next few days.
