The Vác campus of Apor Vilmos Catholic College has been renovated – Dunakanyar Region

The modernization works of the Vác campus of the Apor Vilmos Catholic College have been completed – the institution informed MTI on Wednesday.

In the announcement, it was written: in 2022, the college won the grant for construction investment announced by the European Union and the Hungarian government, with the help of which they were able to renovate two buildings on the Vác campus.
The 240-year-old listed main building received a new heating system, its roof structure and more than 200-year-old windows and doors were renovated from the HUF 500 million grant, and the exterior insulation of the facade of the Szent Miklós tér building was also completed. As part of the investment, 322 windows and doors were renovated or replaced, and 120 solar panels were installed on the roof, they explained.
The school spent HUF 200 million on its own resources to renovate the roof of the main building, and minor modernization works were carried out on both buildings in recent months.
The project ends on December 31, 2023.
Zoltán Gloviczki, the rector of the college, was also quoted as saying that thanks to the modernization of the two buildings, the energy expenditure could be cut in half.
Vilmos Apor Catholic University is housed in the almost 7,000 square meter building of the former Vác priestly seminary in the neighborhood of the Assumption Cathedral. The seminary, built by Bishop Kristóf Migazzi, was completed in 1783, that is, the 240th anniversary of its establishment is celebrated this year.
