The second day of Free Agency 2022 started with practically the same force as the first. Not because of the number of signings and transfers announced, but because of the surprising exchange between Utah Jazz y The Minnesota Timberwolves that ended with Rudy Gobert as a new player in the Minneapolis franchise. This transfer was squared as follows:
- Minnesota Timberwolves receive: Rudy Gobert.
- The Utah Jazz get: Patrick Beverley, Malik Beasley, Walker Kessler, Leandro Bolmaro, four 1st-round draft picks (2023, 2025 and 2027 unprotected, and the 2029 protected Top 5) and a 2026 Draft swap pick.
After this ‘megatrade’, the Jazz have a plan that they want to develop during the rest of the market and extend it for the long-term future in the NBA: rebuild around Donovan Mitchell. This has been confirmed by the Salt Lake Tribune journalist, Andy Larsen.
The reality is that Utah no longer has a roster capable of competing for the NBA ring. In fact, following the information from Larsen, he does not rule out moving Mitchell this summer if a great offer arrives for his player that further enhances the reconstruction of a team that only looks to the competition with eyes to the future.
The Utah Jazz could still trade Donovan Mitchell, per @andyblarsen
“Sense is that the Jazz are keeping their options open here: they could retool around Mitchell, or trade him for a massive haul to jumpstart a rebuild.” pic.twitter.com/eymIWv3QWI

And Minnesota, to all
Quite the opposite in the Timberwolves. The franchise can no longer afford not to compete for the NBA ring. He has brought together, on the same team, Rudy Gobert with Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and D’Angelo Russell. Very strong years are expected for them.
