One of the institutions that has most accused the pandemic is the municipal libraryof Ferrol. At the Plaza de Espaa headquarters, more than half of the users have been lost in the last two years. Before the arrival of the covid, 2019 ended with more than 80,102 home loans, but the following year they were reduced to 31,337 and this 2021 the situation will recover a little, because it is estimated to end at 33,919.
The director of the room is Carmen Porta and explains that from January to last October there were 28,266 home loans in ten months. Curiously, at the time when it has been read the most, the library is less in demand partly because of the seasons it has been closed and also because of fear, although transmission through a book is highly unlikely. We are carrying out the security measures that the Ministry has designed, explains the person in charge of a reading space that has just opened an exhibition dedicated precisely to the works that have been created in the city and that are part of the local fund.
These measures imply a significant reduction in the capacity of each room, screens on all counters, in addition to the usual gels and routes marked on the floor.
