The used Škoda Fabia Combi 2nd generation did not take much from the beauty, but fortunately it has other advantages

What engines to take and which ones to avoid?

In the 2nd generation of the Fabia, the 1.4 16V units, ie the 1.6 TDI CR and the 1.9 TDI, can be considered good and reliable engines. However, turbodiesels will be more expensive and may not pay off for the second hand. Newer versions of the 1.2 TSI engine can also be recommended.

If you have a choice, then try to avoid the 1.4 TDI and 1.2 HTP engines. The latter really only works for driving around the “chimney”, in addition to which there were problems with wiring, as well as with older TSI engine designs.

The problematic areas also include the front axle, where the springs, shock absorbers and silent blocks leave. For some pieces, there is also a leakage into the interior, so focus on this when inspecting the piece.
