The founders Eirik Frøyland Rime and Axel Franck Næss met when they were studying at NTNU in Trondheim, and founded the company that was to become Tise already in 2014. In 2016, the mobile app “Tise” was launched, an application where users can buy used clothes and furniture from each other digitally. With actress and designer Jenny Skavlan on the team, the app grew rapidly.
According to general manager Rime, the company has over 2.5 million users and over 150,000 registered daily users throughout the Nordic region. The company is still in a growth phase, and doubled revenues last year – for the second year in a row.
However, the result before tax showed that the company ended last year with a loss of NOK 77 million.
The company’s annual accounts show that revenues have increased from NOK 20.2 million in 2020 to NOK 43 million in 2021.
Rime has previously described the service as a cross between the marketplace Finn.no and the photo sharing service Instagram, made for young people to experience reuse as more fun and more inspiring.
