The use of controller its Steam is doubled over the past two years, which explains why Valve is putting so much effort into expanding its support. For example, in recent weeks it is working hard to allow optimal use to its users of the PS5 DualSense and the Xbox Series X and Series S controller.
It was Valve itself to reveal these data, with an update on Steamworks, dedicated to the new controllers:
Do users really use controllers to play on PC?
Over the past two years, the average number of active Steam players using a controller has more than doubled, with millions of users enjoying the ever-increasing titles that support them. In these titles, the percentage of gamers using the controller can easily reach 60%, or even more. Some titles, like skateboarding games, have over 90% of players using controllers to play. The growth in controller use has been even greater among gamers using PlayStation controllers, growing from 10.9% to 21.6% of all controller gaming sessions on Steam over the past two years.
