The USC Freiburg Eisvögel start the season preparation with six newcomers

The roster is complete – player from Japan joins the crush

Since this week the USC Freiburg have been training kingfishers again. The Freiburg Bundesliga basketball players now have one month to prepare for the new season. It starts on September 25th, 2021 with a home game against the Capitol Bascats Düsseldorf. Several young national players as well as import players from Japan, the USA and Serbia are new to the squad. At the same time, it is important for the kingfishers to cope with several losses.

First of all, there are the two trainers who directed the fate of the kingfishers over the past two seasons. They left the USC women in the summer – as did the captain duo Lea Ouedraogo / Sara Kranzhöfer and various other players. In the future, the sporting director, Harald Janson, will take his place on the sidelines. Meanwhile, six newcomers join the team – among them the Japanese national player Shiori Yasuma. She is moving to the Breisgau from the Japanese champion Toyota Antelopes. The 1.61-meter-short player with the high basketball IQ is to hold the playmaker position together with Pauline Mayer and Martha Pietsch.

In addition, the two young national players Lina Sontag and Martha Pietsch have signed on with the kingfishers. The same applies to the Serbian Andjelina Radic. With her height of 1.87 meters, she should ensure presence under the basket. And two US players will also wear the kingfishers jersey in the coming season: winger Christa Reed from Ireland and center player Hannah Little from Dreisam from Finland.
