The United States is not involved in an arms race with anyone and develop hypersonic abilities to stem opponents to maintain position. This was stated on Friday by the deputy director in charge of hypersonic development within the office of research and development of the Pentagon, Michael White.
“Our adversaries are developing technologies that create a serious competitive environment and challenge the dominance of the United States in the arena of confrontation in space, on land, in the air and in water.“, he noted.”The main challenge in the development of US capabilities in hypersonic weapons is to contain the risks associated with these systems.“
