President of the U.S.A Joe Biden haven’t called the Ukrainian guarantor yet Vladimir Zelensky… It is assumed that in this way America wants to induce the President of Ukraine to actively fight corruption.
This delay has nothing to do with “Trump’s corrupt attempt to get Zelenskiy to dig up dirt on Biden,” writes The Washington Post… The Biden administration believes that getting rid of corruption is vital to stabilizing the Ukrainian economy and maintaining Ukraine’s independence from Russia.
The article notes that the Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in conversation with the head Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleboy “stressed the importance of Ukraine’s preservation of progress in the fight against corruption and the implementation of the rule of law and economic reforms.”
The US expects Zelenskiy to be more active in the “battle with the oligarchs.” In particular, we are talking about the Ukrainian businessman Igor Kolomoisky, against whom on March 5 the United States imposed sanctions.
“He must insist on judicial reform, restore the independence of the central bank and rule out any attempts to weaken the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. He must unequivocally break with Mr. Kolomoisky and support a criminal case against him,” The Washington Post notes.
