The US will not participate in a possible attack on Iran – 2024-04-14 14:14:38

After Iran’s airstrike on Israeli territory, experts in the Western media are trying to predict what Israel’s response will be.

According to CNN, which cited US presidential administration officials, Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Washington would not participate in a possible retaliatory attack against Iran.

Meanwhile, an unnamed Israeli official told the New York Times that Israel’s response would be “coordinated with allies.”

Biden earlier said the United States had helped Israel shoot down “almost all” of the 300 drones and missiles Iran fired at its territory on Sunday night.

To that end, Biden said he has sent U.S. warplanes and ships with anti-missile defense systems to the region over the past week.

“Thanks to this deployment and the exceptional skill of our troops, we have helped Israel shoot down almost all incoming drones and missiles,” the US president said.

“I condemn these attacks in the strongest possible way,” he added.

Iranian officials said that if Israel responded to an attack on its soil, Tehran’s next move would be even stronger.

Iran’s chief of general staff, Mohammad Bagheri, told Iranian state television that the Iranian military’s response to a possible counterstrike would be “much bigger.”

Iran also warned Washington that backing Israel’s response would lead to attacks on US bases in the region.

Iran’s mission to the UN earlier said that after the massive strike against Israel, Tehran considered the “issue resolved” as Iran had already exercised its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Iranian officials also said Israel must not “make another mistake.”
