Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) hopes that the search for non-ordinary oil and gas treasures or non-conventional oil and gas reserves (MNK) by Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) in the Rokan Block can be successful. Bearing in mind, the company will partner with a company from the United States, namely EOG Resources.
SKK Migas Exploitation Deputy Wahyu Wibowo said that currently PHR is preparing to drill two MNK wells for this year. He also hopes that the drilling process will become a milestone in the history of the search for MNK in Indonesia.
“MNK, we are in Rokan we will drill two wells, namely Gulamo and Kelo, we will drill them in April and August, if successful this will be a new milestone for MNK’s in Indonesia after MNK’s CBM yesterday started to fade,” Wahyu said in press conference, Wednesday (18/1/2023).
Therefore, he has high hopes for the drilling process that will be carried out by Pertamina. Moreover, the company will partner with companies that understand non-conventional oil and gas. “No kidding, Rokan’s partner is one of the biggest MNK players in America, namely EOG and hopefully it will be good,” he said.
Previously, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif previously said that his party was intensively developing non-conventional oil and gas (MNK) “treasures”. Given the potential of MNK, this is quite promising.
Arifin himself is currently awaiting the preparation process for searching for non-conventional oil in the Rokan Block. This is because the potential of MNK in the Rokan Block has been eyed by a United States company.
“This has been good communication with us and it seems his wish to enter Indonesia is not only unconventional but also conventional,” he said when met at the Jakarta Convention Center, Wednesday (27/7/2022).
