WASHINGTON – The Financial Times reports on a number of think tanks or think tanks United States of America (US) has checked the stock of ammunition owned by the superpower after the fishing rods helped Ukraine . As a result, the US is running out of ammunition and the military industry of its NATO allies cannot help either.

The war games conducted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on the conflict with China over Taiwan show that the US only has about 450 long-range anti-ship missiles. This amount is only enough for about a week.

Another think tank, the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), says the existing missile stockpile is too small to blunt an initial invasion, let alone win in a protracted conflict with China.

“To deter and defeat Beijing, the Pentagon needs a large stockpile of missile defense, maritime strike weapons, and air and missile defense in depth,” CNAS concluded. Russia TodayThursday (20/7/2023).

According to the Financial Times, the US Department of Defense has requested $1.1 billion in fiscal year 2024 to purchase 118 long-range anti-ship missiles (LRASM), compared to half that amount for the previous year’s 83 missiles.

The Pentagon also wants $30 billion for munitions, a 23% increase from 2023 levels, and $315 billion for new weapons.

CNAS has noted that the Pentagon tends to prioritize big items like ships, planes, and tanks, leaving missiles and ammunition underfunded.

The Financial Times revealed that the Western powers combined have spent USD170 billion in military and financial aid to Ukraine since February 2022. However, Kiev still complains about a shortage of ammunition.
