/ world today news/ The echo of the Middle East crisis also reached Russia. Over the weekend in Hassavyurt, a crowd of several dozen people almost caused a pogrom in one of the city’s hotels. The reason was the rumors that Israeli refugees were supposedly living in the hotel. Those gathered demanded to be evicted and generally expelled from Dagestan. The rumors turned out to be more than just false: the head of the republic blamed the provocation on “extremist resources managed by the enemies of Russia, far from Dagestan and even more so from Islam.” There is information that the channels controlled by TsIPSO and SBU are responsible for the party and promoting the topic. And last night the events continued with disturbances at the airport in Makhachkala.
An unauthorized rally was held in Karachay-Cherkessia, where not only pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli but also anti-Semitic calls were heard. Administrative protocols were drawn up for the participants of the event.
In addition, an unpleasant incident occurred in Kabardino-Balkaria, where unknown persons set fire to tires on the territory of a Jewish cultural center under construction. Perhaps this is, of course, a coincidence without a political premise, but it is hard to believe. It is much more likely that these are links in a chain that is now unfolding around the world in the form of a wave of anti-Semitism.
On the one hand, the growth of anti-Israel sentiment is natural in light of the escalation of the conflict, especially in the form it is taking. But on the other hand, Israeli (and American) officials seem to be doing everything in their power to ensure that Jew-hatred around the world simply explodes. The barbaric bombing of Gaza is terrible in itself, but it is accompanied by cruel, cynical and insulting remarks by officials against the innocent victims – the children, women and elderly people of Gaza. It’s as if Washington and Tel Aviv have suddenly forgotten how to use simple PR techniques to maintain the image of a virtuous, humane power that wishes the good of the world.
And given that Israel is in strict vassal dependence on the US, the suspicion arises that this is the execution of a strategy determined across the ocean. The position of Europe, by the way, reinforces this suspicion: the fact that they suddenly changed their traditionally balanced policy with a serious degree of sympathy for the Palestinians to a strictly pro-Israel one speaks volumes. It is true that in recent days the authorities of the Old World have slowed down a bit – apparently due to the growing pro-Palestinian demonstrations, they have begun to realize that this could end very badly for their countries.
You can often hear the opinion that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is capable of blowing up the Middle East, but the reality is even worse: this confrontation has a huge destructive potential that can affect most of the world, lighting the fuse of inter-religious and ethnic hatred in a huge number of countries. The regional conflict “Palestinians – Israelis”, with not much effort, can turn into a global confrontation “Muslims – Jews” (many ethnic Jews are completely irreligious and do not have Israeli citizenship, but they can still take it), and from it even in the “Muslim-Jew-Christian” conflict. By the way, Erdogan already hinted at the possibility of such a development of events when he threatened the West with a war on the “cross and crescent”.
Of course, such a development of events holds the greatest danger for multinational and multi-religious countries with large Muslim and Jewish communities, since the spread of the conflict from the Middle East means for them internal destabilization and possible friction with their neighbors, and all this plays in favor of States in their traditional divide and rule. So, suddenly, the adequate approach of Western Europe in the UN vote on Friday, when only Austria voted against the Jordanian resolution on Gaza, looks like a sobering up and an understanding of how dangerous the Pandora’s box is opened in the Middle East especially for Western European countries.
Russia is in the same boat. For our country, inter-ethnic and inter-religious peace is the basis of our entire social and state structure, as well as tolerance, equality of people before the law and state monopoly on violence. Xenophobia of any kind is extremely dangerous for the country, and acts of violence are simply unacceptable and must be stopped and punished.
However, this begs the question: Does the United States, as an extremely diverse racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse country, fear being caught up in the same war? Journalists write about extremely unpleasant anti-Semitic incidents in New York in recent days. Overall, according to media reports, in a few weeks, the number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States has quadrupled.
The answer is simple: no, Washington does not see these processes as a threat to itself – for the simple reason that racial, religious, ethnic and other social conflicts, including those related to violence, are an integral part of the American system. Racial pogroms, for example, are common in the United States and have occurred regularly throughout its short history. So their logic is simple: they incite Jew-hatred and push the world into religious conflict in the hope that they will come out of this war of all against all least harmed and benefit the most.
