This 2022 will serve to be the year in which the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup returns, national tournament in which the US Soccer brings together the 25 American teams belonging to the Major League Soccer and the lower divisions in the United States.
The tournament will start from March 22 and 23, will have the participation of MLS teams, divisions such as United Soccer League (named second), the USL League One, the National Independent Soccer Association y la MLS NEXT Pro (denominadas tercera), among other member teams of amateur soccer.
What is the competition format like?
- First Round: Open and amateur division teams will meet to see who continues in the competition.
- Second Round: This is where the survivors of the First Round face off against the second and third division teams. USL, USL League One, NISA and MLS NEXT Pro.
- Third Round: Those squads that have won in the Second Round will face the first 17 MLS institutions – The 4 of the CONCACAF Champions League and 2 of the best from each conference are excluded –, they will enter later.
- Round of 32: Moment where the remaining 8 MLS teams finish joining.
The rest of the qualifying rounds to be played will be Eighth Finals, Quarter Finals, Semifinals and Finals. For each of the rounds, a draw will be carried out that will define the pairings and the matches that involve professional clubs will be held outside the recesses by FIFA Date.
Where will the US Open Cup be broadcast?

What is the prize for the winner?
