For his part, a USGA spokesman reiterated that all the dates that had been established were maintained despite the appearance of the coronavirus pandemic, which is hitting New York State hard.

“We continue to celebrate the US Open dates at Winged Foot next June and will adhere to all guidelines and regulations available from the CDC. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention?), WHO (World Health Organization) and other federal, state and local authorities to do what is best for the health of the community and the safety of all those involved “, the USGA said in a statement.

“The construction of our corporate hospitality stores has already stopped and we are creating contingency plans in case we need to change, since postponement is possible. It is premature at this point to speculate on possible date or location changes, but we hope to make a decision sometime in mid-April, “said the American Golf Association.
