The United States Golf Open dispute will be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic affecting the state of New York, according to a report published tonight by the New York Post.
Nevertheless, the United States Golf Association (USGA) declined to comment on this and maintains the official position that a decision will have to be made in the middle of next April.
According to the journalistic version, the intention of the USGA is to hold the tournament at the Winged Foot Golf Club on the outskirts of New York, but later this year.
The 120th edition of the US Golf Open was scheduled for June 18-21 in Mamaroneck, New York., but that club was closed several days ago as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and everything stopped to organize the tournament.
“We remain hopeful regarding the end of the summer, (maybe) early September,” a source told the Post. on a change in dates for the US Open, adding that the club is “optimistic”, counting on the event being held at the venue that last hosted the championship in 2006, when Geoff Ogilvy was the winner. .
For his part, a USGA spokesman reiterated that all the dates that had been established were maintained despite the appearance of the coronavirus pandemic, which is hitting New York State hard.

The Augusta Masters and the PGA Championship have already been postponed, and the PGA Tour has canceled nine tournaments. The British Open is still scheduled for July 16-19. A delay from the US Open. it would require some juggling of tournaments and dates by the PGA Tour if the golf calendar is resumed.
