The US is granting Indonesia $649 million for infrastructure and micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) projects.

The United States will grant $649m to Indonesia to fund infrastructure development and small business projects across the country. The funding will come from the United States Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Indonesian government. The project will focus on climate-conscious transportation infrastructure in five Indonesian provinces and increase access to financing for women-owned micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The project is aimed at creating more opportunities for business owners to access market capital and increasing the country’s resilience against climate change and other external shocks. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who is the vice-chair of MCC’s board of directors, said that “with this investment, we will have worked together on projects worth, in total, over $1 billion.”
