The US is accused of being the mastermind behind the arrest of Billionaire Telegram founder Pavel Durov, here’s why

MOSCOW – Senior officer Russia accusation United States (US) as the mastermind behind the arrest of the billionaire founder of Telegram Pavel Durov by the French authorities.

Durov was arrested at Paris-Le Bourget Airport on Saturday, shortly after arriving from Azerbaijan on a private plane.

According to French media, prosecutors in Paris plan to charge the 39-year-old with involvement in drug trafficking, pedophilia crimes, and fraud, citing improper content misrepresentation of Telegram, encryption tools strong, and lack of cooperation with the police to succeed in these claims.

Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Russian Safer Internet League and a member of the Civic Chamber, said that America ordered the French authorities to arrest Durov as part of the framework of sanctions against Moscow.

Writing on Telegram, Mizulina said that Durov’s arrest at Paris airport, reportedly on charges related to fraud, drug trafficking, cyberbullying and inciting terrorism, did not surprise her.

“I have long believed that traveling outside of Russia is a great risk for Telegram owners, because they could be arrested at any time,” he said, giving note that similar incidents in which people were detained on the orders of the US had occurred before.

“The arrest was clearly an assault on TON [platform berbasis blockchain yang awalnya dikembangkan oleh para kreator Telegram] which is invested by major Russian companies. “That, to some extent, is a continuation of US sanctions policy,” he explained, as quoted Russia todayMonday (26/8/2024).

The official believes that America is behind the whole situation, arguing that Telegram, which has more than 900 million monthly active users worldwide, is a crack in their flesh when it comes to information dissemination.

According to Mizulina, the French authorities did not act independently in their decision to arrest Durov.
