KOMPAS.com – Smithsonian Institution in the United States, an institution that manages a group of museums including National Museum of Natural History, offers educational tours on cruises around the world.
Launch Travel and Leisure, Wednesday (5/5/2021), the cooperation in the travel program was carried out with a cruise ship company called Ponant.

The program, which focuses on history and culture, will start an expedition in 2022 with voyages from Antarctica and Iceland, to the Mediterranean and Japan.
The tourists on the cruise will also be accompanied by experts, such as archaeologists, scientists, anthropologists, and historians who are ready to help enrich tourism knowledge in each destination.
“As the journey begins, we believe guests will be more interested in meaningful experiences that help to better interpret and understand the places being explored,” said Smithsonian Travel Senior Vice President Lynn Cutter, citing Travel and Leisure.
For example, upon arriving in Japan, tourists can take udon noodle making classes before a walk in a park that dates back to the early Edo period.
In addition, while on the Le Soleal cruise ship with a capacity of 264 guests, tourists can also visit the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park.

For other tourist destinations such as the Svalbard Islands, guests can prepare to see polar bears and walruses while accompanied by a naturalist guide from the cruise ship Le Boreal.
If you are interested in exploring North America across the Great Lakes from Lake Ontario to Michigan, while enjoying its majesty Niagara Falls, guests can take travel packages for eight days.
Ponant Chief Executive Officer for America Navin Sawhney said the cruise company has been a pioneer in inviting tourists to vacation in meaningful ways for more than 30 years.

Although the cruise is not scheduled until 2022, the cruise ship company has implemented the Covid-19 security protocol. All passengers and crew members over the age of 16 must be vaccinated for at least 14 days before boarding the ship.
Not only that, guests are also required to show negative evidence of Covid-19 through a PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure. All baggage will also be disinfected before being put on board.
