The United States Army deployed a Marine command today to guarantee the security of its diplomatic headquarters in Haiti, where gangs maintain their attacks against different targets.
Between 02:00 and 03:00 (local time) a helicopter, following orders from the State Department, carried out the evacuation of some members of its personnel accredited in the Caribbean country.
The decision was made after shootings were reported in the vicinity of the diplomatic mission of the northern nation.
Previously, the French embassy in Haiti called on its citizens to take extreme care and limit movements.
On Thursday, the government of Prime Minister Ariel Henry decreed a State of Emergency for a month, as gang disobedience and collective panic persisted.
This measure continues the one established on the 4th, 5th and 6th of the current month.
The extension of the State of Exception will govern the entire Western department for a period of one month, until Wednesday, April 3.
The curfew throughout this territory is in force between 6:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. (local time) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday it will be from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (local time).
This decision aims to restore order and take appropriate measures to regain control of the situation.
