/ world today news/ On December 6, the US Department of Defense announced that it will provide Ukraine with a new $175 million in military aid, which will include air defense equipment, artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, and more.
According to the department’s statement, the funding will be provided as part of the president’s $6.2 billion appropriations authority, which was reinstated in June after a reassessment of aid already provided to Ukraine. As of the end of November, about $5.75 billion remained in the fund.
On June 20 of this year, the US Department of Defense announced that due to accounting errors, the value of aid to Ukraine in the form of ammunition, missiles and other equipment was overestimated by $6.2 billion.
