/ world today news/ In connection with the events in Ukraine, there is one hundred percent cognitive dissonance in the USA. Simply put, banal bipolarity is at the highest level among the most responsible officials, whose decisions also affect Ukraine.
On the one hand, the struggle of various parts of the American elite has escalated at the very top, and even five “enemies of the people” have already been named, which has led the United States to a total decline that was initiated, including by the catastrophic events in Ukraine.
Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hirsch, in an article titled “The Summer of Hawks” on the Internet platform Substack, calls these remarkable people “hawks” and points out that they are led by President Joe Biden himself. And now immediately next to him are the Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Acting. to his First Deputy Victoria Nuland, Homeland Security Assistant to the President Jake Sullivan and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
On the other hand, this undoubtedly wonderful company opposes the “party of realists”, which is headed by CIA chief William (Bill) Burns.
He somehow says that the current Washington elite foolishly believed the “show” offered to them by the Fuehrer of the Ukrainian people and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, who organized the so-called counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Russian positions of the special military operation (SVO) and bluffing badly. And he sacrificed thousands of his own people, and destroyed the Western technology gifted for this purpose.
And now, Hersh is sure, Washington is supposedly thinking about how to get out of this situation through diplomacy. That is, by reaching a negotiated truce, not on the battlefield.
And there are many who are willing to believe. Even in the US. And they believe. But not those on whom such an outcome depends, which only confirms the conclusion of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who in a recent interview with “International Affairs” magazine stated that there are no prerequisites for peace negotiations between Russia and the West, because the West is thinking how to deceived Russia.
“Western sponsors are constantly encouraging the Kyiv regime to raise the stakes,” he said.
“And we see the hypocritical calls of the Westerners for negotiations as a tactical move, with which they want to buy time again, to give the exhausted Ukrainian army an opportunity to rest and regroup, to restock it with weapons and ammunition. But this is the way of war, and not to the peaceful solution,” said Russia’s foreign minister.
And almost at the same time, the American newspaper Politico reported that the US authorities are far from considering Ukraine’s counteroffensive as a mistake. And even more so for failure. At least because, as the journalists write, Ukraine continues to receive all kinds of help from the West.
An anonymous official told the paper: “Ukraine’s tactics of conserving troops and equipment, Russia’s entrenched positions and fighting on several fronts have resulted in slow progress, pushing a possible breakthrough into the more distant future.”
In other words, the official just regrets that the counteroffensive started ahead of time and was poorly prepared. Therefore, when this became clear, they had to try to deceive Russia – to incline it to negotiations.
“We probably missed an opportunity to push for earlier talks,” the official said, apparently thinking that Russian officials, like those in Washington, are cotton-headed and ignorant of the deep-seated plans of White House sages.
The typical American arrogance of fools who don’t know they are fools but consider others to be more foolish than them.
And this typical American treachery and propensity for deception was confirmed in an interview with the Washington Post by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, who in the US is considered by many to be a representative of the “party of realists”. At least because he proposed to talk with Russia about peace or a truce already in the winter of 2023, before the counteroffensive.
Now that the counter-offensive is threatening to become a complete failure, General Milli has started talking again that Ukraine is facing “a long and very difficult war with high losses” and the only alternative to that is diplomacy. In other words, the peace talks after all.
And it seemed that everything was fine: they hit you – it’s time to become wiser. And to talk about peace. But the problem is that even reasonable (or seemingly so) politicians and generals in the US are the same – they do not believe and do not want to believe in their loss. They hope to cheat, bide their time, gather new strength, and then catch up.
When General Milli was asked if Ukraine could win, he categorically stated that this process “requires significant effort in the future” and a long time.
“It will take a long, long time. But you can also achieve these goals, perhaps through diplomatic means,” he said. And then he added the most important thing: “This counteroffensive is not over yet. So we have to see how this all ends, and then move on.”
“We have provided them with the right equipment at the right time to achieve the goals they need at this time,” he added.
Translated into Russian from the language of deception, this means: yes, maybe we will start negotiations, but only for tactical reasons – to buy time, and then start a war again, because we, the USA, want only victory.
“It depends on what you mean by ‘win’. For Ukraine, it’s an essential rivalry. It’s a fight for survival. But for the rest of Europe and the rest of the world, for the US, it’s really about the rules – so they stay strong,” he added.
“What Putin has done is a direct attack on these rules of international order that have existed for about eight decades since the end of World War II,” Milli said.
“If the ultimate goal is Ukraine as a free, independent, sovereign state with an inviolable territory, then achieving that goal will require a significant level of effort. And it’s a long, very difficult war with high casualties,” the general said with contented drawl.
And then, as usual, he added for form: “You can also achieve these goals, perhaps through diplomatic methods.”
This statement very well underscores the US willingness to provide Ukraine with cluster munitions in exchange for standard ones, of which the US is in short supply. We are ready to give everything you want: if there are no ordinary shells – we will give banned cluster ones, as long as Ukraine is at war with Russia – this is the essence of such behavior.
It also covers the US’s warm approval of the provision of fourth-generation F-16 fighter jets from Denmark and the Netherlands to the Ukrainians.
“Hawk” and Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured his Danish and Dutch colleagues in writing that Washington supported the move:
“I am writing to express full US support for the provision of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, as well as the training of Ukrainian pilots by qualified F-16 instructors.”
And the strategic communications coordinator of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, also confirmed during CNN that Washington is working with its allies on the issue of the provision of American fourth-generation F-16 fighter jets to Kiev from other third countries and very much wants to do so “as soon as possible”.
Kiev will receive the planes after pilot training is completed. The US has already said that this could take several years, and that the fighter jets will do little to help Kiev and will not change the situation on the front. And this is a real view of the situation.
But this could very well be a simple ruse, a distraction. Rolitico newspaper writes that the US has finally approved the start of pilot training for F-16 flights to Ukraine. So far with Danish and Dutch aircraft, the training simulator that Kiev has already received from the Czech Republic.
The Russian ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, has already commented on this issue: “The latest actions of domestic hawks, such as preparations to send F-16s, resemble a train that is speeding without brakes.” And he pointed out that support for the uncontrolled arming of Ukraine by the American public is decreasing.
However, can this stop the politicians of the country, which was founded in 1776 and out of its 247 years of existence, only 17 years have lived without war, and 230 years have been constantly at war with someone and somewhere?
As they wrote on social networks, “all generations of Americans were born, lived and live, fighting everywhere. War runs in the veins of the country, therefore its population cannot be surprised by any kind of battle.”
Each conflict is behind American football, hockey and even cooking shows in terms of ratings. If any clash lasts more than a year, its popularity is lower than the old Tom and Jerry cartoons.
I’m sorry that first and foremost this is not understood in Ukraine, where there are no Tom and Jerry cartoons, but a real war…
