The US Congress May Not Support Military Aid to Ukraine: Impact on European Support and Biden’s Compromise

The US Congress may not support military aid.

British Foreign Secretary David Cameron will note that if the US Congress does not approve further assistance to Ukraine, Russian dictator President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese leader Xi Jinping will be happy about it.

The publication reports this with reference to a British politician. Bloomberg.

“If this money doesn’t go through, only two people will be smiling: one of them is Vladimir Putin in Russia, the other is Xi Jinping in Beijing. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to give either of these two a Christmas present,” Cameron said.

The British minister notes that if Washington does not support assistance, this could negatively affect the support of European countries.

“The impact of this vote in Congress will be huge because it will allow those of us who really want to support Ukraine next year to go to all the other European countries and say, ‘Yes, you saw what the US did, now we all need to join in.’ , he said.

According to Cameron, the funds allocated by the allies “were not wasted” because they “destroyed half of Russia’s pre-war assets.” He notes that we should be united in financial support for Ukraine, and also “make sure that Putin loses.”

As reported, The US Senate did not support aid to Ukraine. The bill received only 45 votes out of the 60 needed. 48 senators voted against.

Meanwhile Reuters citing a source writes that President Joe Biden ready to compromise with Republicans on migrantsto accept assistance to Ukraine. The White House and the US Congress are trying to conclude an agreement that would simultaneously provide assistance to Ukraine and additional funding to prevent illegal migration.
