The draft law requires the State Department to establish a “Baltic Security and Economic Promotion Initiative” aimed at providing effective security support to the Baltic States, prioritizing protection against hybrid warfare and enhancing cooperation with NATO forces, as well as strengthening US support for the Baltic Sea region. energy security.
The initiative also aims to ease economic pressure from Russia and China on the Baltic states.
As part of the initiative, the bill envisages instructing the State Department to organize visits of “high-level representatives” to the Baltic States at least twice a year, as well as to ensure participation in key regional fora such as the Tripartite Initiative Summit and the Baltic Sea Security Conference.
The State Department is also expected to organize an annual trade forum in co-operation with the governments of the Baltic States.
