On the afternoon of July 15, a balloon pilot in Vermont, USA, dies from a high altitude. Vermont police have identified 72-year-old Brian Boland.
A balloon with four passengers and Boland took off on Thursday afternoon. After a short while, it descended again and, in contact with the ground, its basket tilted, causing one of the passengers to fall out of it. The fallen were not injured.
When the balloon started to rise again, Boland got under the basket and tangled in the nets attached to it, the police explain. Boland was trapped under a basket and shortly afterwards fell from a great height.
He landed in a field and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In turn, the balloon with now 3 passengers continued to move and after a mile and a half (about 24 km), on the border of Vermont and New Hampshire, entwined in the tops of trees.
The passengers could easily get out of the balloon and no one was injured.
Boland has been involved in tourism for many years and has offered passengers balloon flights. He was one of the most experienced balloon pilots in the world, winning countless awards as well as setting world records, the website said.
