New York Attorney General Laetitia James announced today that she is working with a group of Attorneys General of the country to investigate Meta Platforms’ efforts to promote Instagram to children and young people.
A group of prosecutors is investigating possible violations by Meta of state consumer protection laws, and is also trying to find out if the company has put society at risk.
The proceedings, as explained in the press release, are aimed at testing the methods the company uses to increase the frequency and duration of young users’ interactions with Instagram.
