The American ground forces received the first batch of high-precision operational-tactical missiles PrSM (Precision Strike Missile).

The US Army announced this on Friday, December 8, European Pravda reports.

Delivery of the Precision Strike Missile Increment 1 Early Operational Capability follows successful production qualification testing in November at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico.

PrSM is a new generation military weapon for high-precision fire over long distances. It is launched from the M142 highly mobile artillery rocket systems and M270A2 multiple launch rocket systems and is capable of neutralizing targets at a distance of more than 400 kilometers.

“The Precision Strike Missile will provide Joint Forces Command with a 24-hour, all-weather capability that will counter adversary capabilities to conduct combat maneuvers and air defense operations,” said Doug Bush, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology.

“The rapid development and delivery of these capabilities is a clear example of the Army’s active use of new congressional acquisition authorities, which allow us to get improved equipment into the hands of Soldiers much more quickly,” he added.

In the future, PrSM should replace ATACMS missiles with a range of 300 km, which are currently in service with the US Army.

In early November, a group of senior Republicans in the US Congress called on the president Joe Biden to send longer-range missiles to Ukraine.

Earlier in October, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukrainian forces used American long-range missiles ATACMS, striking airfields of Russian occupiers in captured Berdyansk and Lugansk.

Subsequently this information confirmed at the White House. They noted that the United States “recently” provided Ukraine with an ATACMS type capable of striking at a distance of up to 165 kilometers.

According to the New York Times, the United States has now transferred about 20 ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine.
