The Russian Embassy in the United States on Wednesday denounced the supply of depleted uranium ammunition promised by Washington to Kiev, calling this future aid a “clear sign of inhumanity”.
“The decision of the American administration to send depleted uranium ammunition to Kiev is a clear sign of inhumanity”, lambasted on Telegram the Moscow embassy, highlighting the risks linked to the “moving radioactive clouds” caused by the explosions of these weapons.
“Weapons with indiscriminate effects”
This reaction comes after the American announcement of a billion dollar aid to Ukraine supposed to give a “new impetus” to the counter-offensive of kyiv.
The strictly military part of an amount of 175 million dollars provides in particular for the delivery of 120mm ammunition containing depleted uranium and intended for American Abrams battle tanks promised to Ukraine.
These munitions capable of piercing armor are controversial because of the toxic risks for the military and the population.
“The United States is deliberately transferring weapons with indiscriminate effects,” the Russian embassy further criticized. According to her, Washington “refuses to accept the failure of the so-called counter-offensive of the Ukrainian armed forces” and is ready to “write a cross on future generations”.
