TRIBUNE – After the shooting death of Fayed, a 10-year-old child, in Nîmes, during a settling of scores between traffickers, the essayist regrets that this tragedy does not arouse a strong political reaction and calls for a fight against drugs the national priority.
On June 27, Nahel Merzouk, 17, registered in the TAJ file (processing of criminal records), was killed by a police officer after refusing to comply, driving a yellow Mercedes Class A registered in Poland. The sequel is known: presidential outrage over a death «inexplicable, inexcusable». The minute of silence demanded by Yaël Braun-Pivet at the National Assembly the next morning. The tweet at “little angel gone too soon” by Kylian Mbappe. Jean-Luc Mélenchon calling for “do not touch schools”, but for the rest, the absence of instructions was well received. Result: nights of looting, riots and violence burned buildings, cars, businesses, injured 737 police officers. And an assassination attempt on the family of Vincent Jeanbrun, mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses, emblem of a Republic besieged but which does not let itself be done.
