The urban intervention in Maglaraika is nearing completion

The Maglaraika area, in the East where an important urban regeneration project is developing, was visited by the Mayor Dimitris Papageorgiou, the Deputy Mayors George Arletos and Vangelis Pichas and the Head of the Technical Service Orestes Brikos.

The project is part of the Green Fund with a budget of 1,095,000 euros. Most of the work has been completed and is expected to be completed within the next two months.

The presentation of the project was made by the Deputy Mayor Vangelis Pichas.

As he said, the urban intervention includes the reconstruction of the 3,473 square meter public space surrounded by Palaiologos, Iustinianos and Heraklion streets, the construction of a side pedestrian street, as well as the reconstruction of the streets surrounding the square, as well as the sidewalks.

Also, the configuration of the rainfall will be completed in order to deal with the flooding phenomena in the area.

The intervention area has three major thematic areas.

– In the first thematic area, in the northwestern part, a complex of circular living rooms with hidden lighting and green islands with trees is formed.

– In the second thematic area in the south-eastern part, the children’s playground is formed in a circular shape, which will be fenced. It will be fully equipped and certified.

– In the third thematic area, a free green space is formed, which is crossed by a corridor made of specially shaped industrial flooring for playing with bicycles.

“So projects are not only done in the city. Small or large, they develop throughout the entire length of the Municipality, because all areas are treated equally and responsibly” underlined Mr. Pihas.
