George Wassouf received condolences throughout Saturday at St. Nicholas Church in Ashrafieh, east Beirut.
The artist, Wassouf, appeared for the first time after announcing the death of his son Wadih, at dawn on Saturday, sad and tired.
With great sadness, the artistic community said goodbye to Wadih Wassouf, expressing their regret for his loss, sympathizing with his father, who was tired and adhered to the word (Praise God).
The reporter, Nishan Der Haroutyunian, a close friend of the late Wadih Wassouf said, “Wadih was extremely loving.”
In an interview with “Sky News Arabia” in an article by reporter Ikram Saab, Nishan said, “My friend Wadih decided to undergo sleeve gastrectomy three months ago, and he came back to Lebanon during the holidays, coming from Doha , where he was running his business, and executed the operation at the end of the month.” last December.”
Nishan revealed, “The cause of death was very severe bleeding” and told “Sky News” that “Wadih entered the hospital on December 27, about two weeks ago, and underwent surgery on the same day , but the complications occurred two days ago.”
He added, “My friend Wadih is 39 and was a lifelong friend of his father, the artist George Wassouf, both on the road and at home.”
Nishan called the situation of the artist, George Wassouf, very sad, denying that “on Friday evening he was transferred to the hospital, as reported by some media”.
Nishan Derharoutyunian said, “What alleviates the horror of the tragedy is that” Abu Wadih “continued to repeat his praise of God throughout the day despite the burning heart and intense sadness controlling him, and expressed this sadness crying and with tears. “
In a phone call made by “Sky News Arabia” to the administration of Mar Youssef hospital, which remained silent, his sources expressed the deep sadness that hovers over the hospital over the young man’s death, and were content to say: ” It was a sad day that is not like the rest of the days.”
According to our sources, the hospital has kept quiet out of respect for the family of the deceased, Al Wassouf.
In another context, medical sources interested in the surgery told Sky News Arabia, “Sleeve gastrectomy, or what’s known as stomach reduction, is one of the most popular weight-loss operations.”
In this process, the surgeon usually cuts out the stomach, as he removes about 80 percent of it, and instead of being like a warehouse, the stomach becomes like a passageway for transporting food.
The operation lasts an hour and a half on average, and can sometimes take up to two and a half hours in complex and thorny cases.
As with any surgical procedure, stomach reduction comes with some rare complications, most notably:
Bleeding: the risk is from the time of surgery up to two weeks.
Blood clots: the risk is from the time of the operation until the third week, then the risk decreases with each passing day after the operation.
The news of the death of Wadih Wassouf, son of the Sultan of Tarab, George Wassouf, raised a great outcry and shock, and raised many questions about the dangers of this surgery and the complications that could ensue, after Wadih’s death brought this surgery come back to the fore again.
Interestingly, “Wadih is the Syrian artist’s eldest son from his first wife, Shalimar, with whom he had a civil marriage in the French capital, Paris, after his family rejected this connection.”
Wadih previously shared a photo a week ago of her father, George, celebrating his birthday via Instagram, commenting, “Happy birthday to my dad, my brother, my best friend. I love you.”
