The ups and downs of Ruud and Olcay have not been able to charm many viewers in recent weeks. In the series about the good and bad times in the lives of the two, the role of reality soap star does not seem to be completely made for them and Rob Goossens even calls the program a ‘superficial reality series’ in RTL Boulevard. Olcay herself also agrees that a reality show is not for them and thinks they should not have done it, she says in the sixth and final episode – which has yet to be broadcast but can already be seen via NPO Plus.
“I do regret that I did it. Especially because I see how badly it hurt you,” continues Olcay, who also points out that Ruud is ‘damaged’ by the series and wakes up at night from all the comments . So there won’t be a second season.
“I had a conversation with PowNed this week and then the television director said: ‘One thing, there will be no season two’. And then I had to chuckle a bit and I thought: well, it’s nice of you to say it because I was sitting still very doubtful,” adds the radio DJ.
Olcay thinks they can be proud of themselves for the fact that they did a good job. “Look at what’s coming at you. I didn’t expect that,” she says. “I expected it to be intense, but I did not expect that there would be talk shows filled with people who would think something about it.”
The last episode of Ruud & Olcay can be seen on NPO 1 on Wednesday 31 May at 21:25. Or watch here already ahead.
