As the organizers from the Association of Memorial Museums remind “Delfi”, the cycle of conversations is intended to look back at the specific novels of writers, the circumstances of their creation, the culturally and historically significant personalities described therein and other intriguing nuances. The conversation will be led by Mg. phil. Arnis Koroševskis.
During the conversation, there will be an opportunity to meet the writer, poet and playwright Andris Zeibots, whose novel “Krauklis” (2020) is dedicated to the poet Jānis Ziemeļnieks (1897–1930). Nordic poetry was extremely popular in the 1920s, but in general the poet’s literary art has been undeservedly forgotten in recent decades. Last year, the novel series “I am…” was launched with the novel “Krauklis”. This is Andris Zeibots’ fifth prose book, and already this year it was followed by the novel “Lēngaitis”, which focuses on other important personalities in the history of Latvian culture – Zenta Mauriņš and Konstantins Raudivs.
After one of the most noticeable and significant events in the latest Latvian literature – the series of historical novels “We. Latvia, XX century” (2014–2018) – its initiators in 2018 decided to take the next steps with the implementation of an even more impressive literary project. This time, in order to create a unique and unprecedented project of interaction between literature and literary studies in the history of Latvian culture, not only writers of different generations and literary experience were gathered, but also literary scholars with 13 significant figures in Latvian cultural history. Ilze Chips. In 2020, the first works of writers were published in the series – Andris Zeibots’ novel “Krauklis”, Inga Gaile’s novel “Writer”, Laima Kota’s novel “Man with a Blue Bird”, but in 2021 Andris Akmentiņš’s novel “Looking for a Lake” Jansone’s novel “The Bill of Time” and Māris Bērziņš’s novel “The Blacksmith of the Future”.
The event can be attended only with a valid Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate. An identity document must be presented alongside the certificate.
It will also be possible to watch the conversation remotely by connecting to the Internet broadcast online. Tickets can be purchased at the museum or by bank transfer before the event – the owner of each ticket purchased will receive a unique link with access to the live video broadcast.
