The new Mazda Intelligent Drive Select (Mi-Drive) function allows the driver of the new CX-5 to select the most suitable driving mode with the touch of a button. Some versions of the model are equipped with “Off-road” mode for the “i-Activ” all-wheel drive system.
Mazda’s new generation Skyactiv car architecture has now also been applied to the new CX-5, improving the car’s body, suspension and seats to make the ride more comfortable. Road noise levels are also significantly reduced, especially when driving on uneven surfaces such as gravel roads.
The front of the 2022 CX-5 is highlighted by the new decorative grille and brand-specific wing design. The headlights and taillights have also been redesigned, and a new sand color “Zircon Sand” has been added to the body color scheme.
The Newground version features silver-tone elements on the front and rear bumpers, as well as window sills, black side-view mirrors, Lime Green-style accents on the front grille and black 19-inch wheels. The cabin has a suede finish, while the interior trim threads and ventilation system deflectors are in “Lime Green” tone.
The Blackout Plus modification has a glossy black finish on the front trim grille, wheel arches, lower bumper section, door sills and side-view mirror housings, giving the car’s body a more athletic look. The 19-inch alloy wheels are black metallic, while the front grille is decorated with red-style accents. The black leather seats are accentuated by red threads, as are the steering wheel, gear lever and door trim panels.
In the Signature version, the body is the same color throughout, while the 19-inch silver-glossy wheels further enhance the car’s sleek design. The interior is sewn with black “Nappa” leather, but the decorative trim panels are made of wood.
The new “CX-5” cabin in the center console is supplemented with a wireless charging cradle for smartphones. The two-piece luggage compartment tray and rear bumper guard are level, making it easier to load and unload luggage. The Newground version models are also equipped with a carpet with a waterproof surface to safely carry wet or dirty items in the luggage compartment.
The CX-5’s advanced range of i-Activsense safety systems is now complemented by the Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) cruise and traffic assistance system. The CTS takes care of reducing driver fatigue by helping to perform accelerator, brake pedal and steering control operations during traffic jams. And finally, adaptive LED headlights have also been improved to provide even better light beams.
The CX-5 is one of the most popular models of this brand in the European market, accounting for 21% of all Mazda cars sold in the region.
