Earlier this month, Microsoft released security update KB5032190 for current versions of the Windows 11 operating system. This package fixes a number of known issues, but also introduces new ones. Judging by numerous user posts on thematic forums, installing KB5032190 can lead to shortcuts disappearing from the taskbar or working incorrectly, slow animation of virtual desktops, or cyclic reboots of the computer.
First of all, it should be noted that trying to install the mentioned update may lead to an endless cyclic reboot of the computer. Messages confirming this appeared on the Reddit platform, as well as Microsoft support forums. Some users have also reported a decrease in the smoothness of virtual desktop animations.
In addition to this, installing the update may cause shortcuts to disappear from the taskbar. Note that users noticed the problem with disappearing shortcuts after the release of the Moment 4 update earlier this year, but now it is also relevant for the KB5032190 package. In some cases, the shortcuts displayed on the taskbar do not work correctly, for example, clicking the Microsoft Word shortcut may lead to the launch of Edge or some other application. Closing File Explorer via Task Manager resolves this issue, but it resumes after about 30 minutes.
Microsoft is aware of the problem with shortcuts, and a patch to fix it is currently being tested in beta versions of Windows 11 on the Canary channel. It is not yet known when the patch will become publicly available.
