The seizure of the temple was attended by employees of municipal law enforcement agencies from the city of Varash and members of the district council, according to the church.
Representatives of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU), with the assistance of local deputies, seized the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in the Rivne region. About it informs UOC-MP on Monday, May 10.
“At about 6:00 am, in the village of Zabolotye, Vladimirsky district, Rivne region, followers of the OCU, with the support of regional deputies, seized the UOC church in the Sarnensk diocese in honor of the holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian,” the message says.
It is alleged that employees of municipal law enforcement agencies from the city of Varash, deputies of the district council Gennady Derevyanchuk and Stepan Zhdanyuk allegedly participated in the direct seizure of the temple.
The parishioners called police officers to try to defend the temple.
“The OCU activists expressed their claims to the church on Great Saturday before Easter. On that day, eyewitnesses say, they consecrated their pasque, summoning a priest from the OCU to the territory of the temple. For this, they closed the gate with a chain and hung a yellow-blue flag on the cross,” – added to the UOC MP.
Earlier, the police told violations during Easter services… Most of all, they concerned the believers’ non-observance of the distance or the absence of protective masks.
