The unmissable flower battle is one of the most anticipated moments of the Nice carnival. A unique event that attracts visitors from all over the world. The show required weeks of preparation.
To shower the public with flowers, the carnival-goers go to great lengths. Nearly 3,000 flowers adorn each parade float. You have to admire them during the first lap of the parade, then try to grab them when the flowers are thrown into the crowd. Jumps, dances, or screams… everyone has their own technique.
The little yellow pompoms are the undisputed stars of the parade. They were picked the day before, only twenty kilometers away. The branches were first cut with a chainsaw. The delicate flowers are then treated with the greatest care. The mimosa has to be bright for the parade. Knowing that they will adorn the floats is a source of pride.
Before each parade, around forty florists stitch the flowers one by one. The floats are reinvented, rebuilt each year, then decorated with floral arrangements. It’s all about colors, the flowers, like the fabrics of the costumes created for the occasion.
